FREE Web site counters & trackers For your web page needs

If you have a Web page, sooner or later, you're going to want a counter for it---or at least a means of determining how many visitors your page is getting.
Across the Web, there are many free counter and Web site tracking services available. This range from simple counters that give you only the number of hits you're getting to sophisticated services that give you extensive data about your visitors (where they're from, what page they were referred by, what time they visited, etc.) Please send us  if you're aware of any such free services that we haven't listed below.

  • eXTReMe Tracking - Wow! I don't know what it is about the Dutch, but they have the coolest free trackers on the Net. This awesome service from the Netherlands (in English) has every stat you could ask for, intelligently broken down by category. This fast-loading JavaScript-enhanced tracker offers you all the data you could ask for about your traffic. You get totals by Web site, search engine, E-mail, Usenet, etc. and even can find out what keywords your visitors used to locate you! See a sample of their stats here..
  • NedStat (English version) - Outstanding free counter with all kinds of detailed stats, including what page referred your visitors to you---a feature that I believe makes NedStat unique among free trackers. This service is now also offering two-week trial periods for its more advanced and detailed NedStat Pro. NedStat also offers a version in Dutch.
  • ICDirect.com Free Counters - This is a fast, free easy-to-set-up counter that tracks your daily, weekly and monthly hits. Using this counter also gets you listed in their directory, which can lead to more traffic for you. Click here for an example of their stats report..
  • IMChat Access Counter Service - Here's an interesting counter with a new twist: it allows you to view how many people are looking at your page(s). If someone goes to your page while you are viewing it, the counter will be bumped up one number. If that person leaves, the counter will be decreased. All this happens live. (Note: this application is incompatible with MSIE 4).
  • SuperStats - Nice stats service that allows you to see how many people have visited your Web page, how they found your site, what time of day they visited, and more. In return, they display a banner on your page that is 400 by 40 pixels. It's easy to set up; just cut & paste 2 lines of HTML to your page.
  • Siteflow Free Counters - Fast-growing free counter site that offers several options, such as ignoring your own hits to your site, as well as making your counter invisible. Setting up the counter is a straightforward two-part process. The free service is available only to sites that get no more than 500 hits a day. They also limit you to one counter per site.
  • IPStat - This tracking service disappeared for a while, but they're back now. They provide plenty of stats including "Hits for the last 21 days," "Hit per Country," "Hits per Hour," "Total Hits per Week Day," "Hits per Browser," and more. Free for personal pages.
  • Aaddzz free Access Counters and Trackers - Service that provides counters with hundreds of cool font styles. This service's counters and trackers are easy to set up. Aaddzz also provides free reports about accesses and visitors to pages. You may use Aaddzz to add up to five counters and five trackers to your Web pages.
  • Freestats - Nice stats program that offers lots of useful data. Besides telling you how many hits your page is getting, it will tell you how many unique visitors your page gets every day/month and shows you who they were. It also tells you such useful info as how many unique visitors you got, what countries they came from and more.
  • WebSide Story- - Not strictly a free counter service, but it serves that purpose well. You sign up whatever pages you want and then they'll be ranked by impressions in the category of your choice. You can then view that page's stats and get such useful information such as forecasts on how many hits you can expect that day. This cool service is also useful for getting more hits, as other surfers who browse the list will click in from time to time.
  • WatchWise - This service isn't free, but they offer a 7-day no obligation trial offer. WatchWise builds and maintains an historical utilization and performance database for your Web site, and generates a comprehensive set of management and technical reports and graphs.
  • Free Web Page Hit Counter - A free counter that allows you to count the hits on all your pages, view counts on all pages at the same time & view counts without viewing the page and incrementing the count.
  • WebTracker - This major free service offers a number of goodies. You get data on what browser your visitors are using, the operating system they're running, and you can tell if they're repeat visitors. You can also find out what days of the week are hot and find out what time of the day visitors come to your site. WebTracker data is updated in real-time. There is never the need to wait for a log file update; view your stats whenever you want to. Note: WebTracker has reported problems with their service with the Internet Explorer browser, version 4.
  • Web Pal Counter - WebPal generates hourly, daily and monthly reports. Each report contains accesses, browsers and hosts statistics. Not free, but a trial period available.
  • Free Web Counter - Fill out a survey and get a free easy-to-use counter. Nice.
  • Crazy Counter - A joke page counter, available in both Java and animated GIF versions.
  • The Museum of Counter Art - Tired of the same lame-looking counter on your page? Check out this site which has 500 sets of free counter artwork for anyone to use. The counter sets can be used with most any counter CGI scripts, across all platforms. Counter art is displayed in the various exhibit rooms of the museum based on its particular look or style.
  • Page Count - Counter service with good & bad news. The good---it provides lots of stats: How many people viewed your page; a breakdown of page views by date, day, and time; a list of where the requests for your page originated; the hostnames of the visitors! (up to 100 max) and unlimited hits. The bad news is you have to display their banner. Page Count is now also offering a "sports themed graphical page counter" that you can get here.
  • Site-Stats - Here's the deal: you give them space for a billboard; they provide you with counter stats.
  • LBInet free counter service - A good basic counter. Just go to the site, fill out a form and they'll E-mail the HTML you need to put on your page. They claim a 99.98 percent reliability rate. No X-rated sites allowed.
